Jacob L. Gilliam

Biography

Jacob is an attorney with Bernstein, Stair & McAdams LLP, where he focuses his practice on general civil litigation, with particular emphasis on business and corporate law, employment law, insurance-related matters, and construction-related disputes. A Knoxville native, Jacob represents individuals and businesses throughout Knoxville and East Tennessee.

Jacob earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Tennessee and his Juris Doctor from Lincoln Memorial University Duncan School of Law in 2019. Prior to law school, Jacob walked on to the University of Tennessee football program, earned a scholarship, and served as the starting right tackle for the Volunteers during the 2014 season, reflecting a strong work ethic and commitment to teamwork that continues to inform his legal practice.

During law school, Jacob clerked with Pryor, Priest & Harber, earned the highest class grade in Civil Procedure and Legal Writing, and was named to the Dean’s List. These academic achievements reflect his strong foundation in legal analysis, writing, and procedural strategy.

Jacob joined Bernstein, Stair & McAdams in 2023, after practicing with a well-respected Knoxville firm for several years. His prior experience includes representing creditors’ rights matters, including collections, foreclosures, and landlord-tenant disputes, as well as representing individuals and businesses in a variety of civil litigation and employment law matters.

Jacob is admitted to practice in Tennessee and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee. Outside of his legal practice, he enjoys cheering on the Tennessee Volunteers, following professional football, and spending time with friends and family.
