Matthew T. McDonald

Biography

Matthew was born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee and graduated from the Farragut school system. He attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville for his bachelor’s degree and the University of Hawai’i, Manoa, where he earned a master’s degree in religious studies, focusing on Chinese language and civilization. Following graduate school, Matthew taught at Maryville College. He graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 2014 and spent six years as the law clerk and Chief Deputy Clerk and Master for the Knox County Chancery Court.  In September 2020, Matthew joined Bernstein, Stair & McAdams. 

Matthew is a member of the Knoxville Bar Association and the Tennessee Bar Association, and serves as Co-Chair of the KBA Judicial Committee. Matthew is an active member of the American Inns of Court (Hamilton Burnette Chapter) and serves as a Hearing Officer for the City of Knoxville Civil Service Merit Board.

In his free time, he enjoys fly fishing and spending time with family.
